Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen prediction

Bayern met the expectations last time out on the road to inconvenient Wolfsburg, as they managed to record a narrow 2:3 victory.

The guests opened the match being quite sharp and left on a break with a 1:3 lead in their hands. Even though the home side managed to reduce in the 54th, the Bavarians appeared far more dangerous in the second part, and it was truly surprising that they failed to be effective at least one more time.

Bayer is at the leading spot in Bundesliga, leaving their closest Leipzig with seven points in deficit.

The Bavarians continue missing central defender Sule (19/1), midfielders Costa (11/1), Tolisso (14/1), Roca (5/0), Goretzka (21/5), offensive Gnabry (23/9) and striker Lewandowski (25/35).

Leverkusen performed quite confident in their last home match against underdogs from Koln when they routinely outplayed them with a 3:0 result.

They took an early lead over Bailey in the 5th minute, and opted for a more defensive approach in the second, waiting for their chances via counters. A tactic that worked well, as they managed to be effective two more times over Diaby, and again over Bailey, and took all three in this one without any major difficulties.

Leverkusen is currently at 6th spot in the general rankings, six points in deficit compared to the Champions League-placed Eintracht.

The guests will miss midfielder Wirtz (24/4), plus right-backs Arias (1/0), Bender (13/0), Fosu-Mensah (6/0), left-back Sinkgraven (19/0) and midfielder Baumgartlinger (16/2).

Goals combined with an obvious choice

Looking at the history of matches between these two, I am positive that a very interesting one is ahead of us. The Bavarians have a huge advantage in this one, and their victory shouldn’t be questionable, but they are showing a certain dose of vulnerability in the back, a condition that Leverkusen is more than capable to exploit and possibly score at least one.

On the other side, there’s no point in Leverkusen staying passive either – while Bayern shows they are slowly starting to function even without their best striker.
