Italy vs England prediction| UEFA Nations League

Italy hosts England for the 5th round of the Nations League group stage.

The Italian squad, after the failure of not qualifying for the World Cup, is going through a period of transition, trying to build “the new Italy”. Coach Mancini is giving more and more players the chance of playing for Italy trying to find some new players who can lead this team now and in the future.

Also “the lack of strikers is a significant problem”, as Mancini said in his last press conference. The only 2 strikers who can be reliable are Immobile (15G in 55 games) and Scamacca (who hasn’t scored yet in his 7 games). A lot of players are also witnessing a tough moment with their clubs. I am referring to the Inter and Juventus players, who are putting on really poor performances lately.

On the other hand, the England squad is very strong in every department, even if some players haven’t been called up by Southgate like Ben White (Arsenal df.), Jadon Sancho (Man. United fw.) and Marcus Rashford (Man. United fw.). The only weak point of this squad, apart from Harry Maguire, is indeed Southgate, who has often made some poor choices during his time as England coach.

Even if the Nations League is the worst competition ever created, a win in this match can be very important for both teams, but especially for England. If Italy wins this match, England will be mathematically out and they will also be relegated. So, because of the gap between these two teams, the injuries of some Italian key players and the must win condition in order to have an opportunity to keep this competition alive for England, I don’t think England will lose this match.
